today was a bit of a mission at the mac
first i sorted the poster for our march version of Craft2.0, it's no easy task and i believe so far I've spent 6-8 hours on over the last few days. And that's working with some pre-supplied images I've brought over the internet.
Then came sorting out and updating the Craft2.0 website. now as i am on no level whatsoever any kind of code girl, this takes me an age and includes many many mistakes, some very simple changes took me about 2 hours.
then i ran my budget and worked out what sponsorship i need for the fair so i don't loose money - oh scary. Add another 2 hours
So while the poster looks shiny, the website looks super shiny, I'm an itty bitty bit tired. but oh wow is it worth it. well i think it is, the jury is currently out on that one.
For personal reasons i love it, love it all.
but
For financial reasons, how much longer i keep going is another thing entirely, as keeping track of my time on this part of the fair alone makes me realise how much i put in. And honestly, if i worked longer hours at my job instead of making a Craft2.0, financially i would be a pile more independent.
of course, would i feel so fulfilled with my life?
if the Japanese influence is the next big craft thing
what comes next?
Between spending loads of time at TheNewDowse lately and part of my heart devoted to ponoko future, functionality and design are always in my brain.
But how does that relate to crafting?
crafting to me is such an organic process, i see things and tun them into something
but other crafters approach their work in a totally different way.
Rachelle's scrappers bears are in their own crafty way just as subversive and groundbreaking as a droog anything
just more comfy, and cuddly.
clearly right now have no answers
is it possible to have all three at once, well in my world it is.
after the fun of Craft2.0 I'm straight into another project, in fact i got hired because of Craft2.0 which is lovely becuase hey that one was for the love so it's nice to do something for the love and able to afford ice cream for breakfast everyday.
So enough about me nmore about it
Well it's all about the crafty and the Web2.0 in one sweet sweet site.
The company is called Ponoko
and the site lives at www.ponoko.com
we're in beta right now - because how can you be a web2.0 and not be beta?
we're signing up users because we want feedback, we're not doing the private beta thing, because really that's just boring and elitist. No this is public beta for everyone, yes you heard it here free beta action people. And the kind of beta where we want uder to tel us what they like what they hate and their dream site of everything they want.
also you can win the most cool table in the entire universe just by signing up as a beta user.
Oh yes the places i work are not shy about handing out the treats, 200 gift bags at Craft2.0 now an award winning designer table, next on my list is a unicorn for everyone.
so head on over
trust me it's painless and worth it, and say sue sent you through vox
i think i get brownie points for doing so ;)
Also i can make sure to send you extra special thank you emails
and put you on on the top of that unicorn list
in 12 hours Craft2.0 opens it's doors
in case you've been sitting under a rock, it's been my all consuming passion since December and was lovingly created and brought to life in tandem with the fantastic Martha
It's been crazy and scary and fun and without Martha i would have fallen to bits a million times over.
So girl this post is dedicated to you and your homeboys (Glen, Finn and Malo) your mini and damson plum gin.
All of you outside wellington are excused for not attending
but if your in Wellington and I don't see you i except a sick note signed by at least 3 doctors
Because I'm truly worried nobody will turn up
with one week to go until the Thorndon Fair (massive street fair of huuuge proportions) I've realised i'm not going to have time to craft all the things i want to. this hath made me a little sad, so i thought instead of bucking on and crafting up a whirlwind i'd blog instead.
becuase obviously that's what you do when you could be elsewhere.
that and watch bad TeeVee
Don't get me wrong tho, my stall will have kick arse new creations. Plus since i'm by the bottle store and 10 steps away from the shepherd's arms i know that even if i sell nothing there is no way i won't have fun.
Which to be honest along with breaking even is the important part of all this (well there is that whole mental health thing as well, but you know that's so 2005 now isn't it) along with not getting sunburnt.
